COLONIE — Mr. D’s Restaurant & Lounge is now open in the Crowne Plaza Albany —The Desmond Hotel.
Veteran executive chef, Michael St. John, is responsible for the menu execution as well as event food and beverage operations for weddings, conferences and business meetings. Some of St. John’s most renowned accomplishments during his career include the prestigious designation of certified executive chef by the American Culinary Federation and recognition of the respected AAA Four Diamond Rating.
After undergoing a complete renovation in April 2021, Mr. D’s Restaurant & Lounge features a sleek, new design with a fireplace, marble-top bar with built-in wireless phone chargers and several unique seating sections, including an outdoor patio to fit any party size and occasion.
“We are very excited to share the official opening of Mr. D’s and the launch of our new food and beverage menus with new and long-time customers,” said Tyler Desmond, general manager of the Crowne Plaza Albany — The Desmond Hotel. “We expect the remainder of the year to be really strong for us. It has been a challenging couple of years, but we plan to move full steam ahead without taking any more steps backward. This restaurant opening is a welcomed symbol of that.”
Serving a curated modern American menu featuring long-time favorites such as the Drunken Goat Cheese Salad and Desmond Bread Pudding, the new lunch and dinner menu includes additions such as pulled pork with bourbon BBQ sauce on ciabatta and a Korean chicken wrap.
The restaurant’s new cocktail list is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group World-Class Beverage Program. All classic, craft and zero-proof cocktails are brand new, with recipes provided by the program. The World-Class Beverage Program also requires Mr. D’s to carry specific upscale spirits, which is considered a hallmark of Crowne Plaza restaurants, and 16 house wines in addition to several new selections.
To promote the launch of the new lunch and dinner menu, Mr. D’s is offering a 15 percent discount to the general public during this time period through March 31.
