BETHLEHEM– Residents of the Cherryvale neighborhood in Slingerlands gathered Saturday, April 22 for an Earth Day Clean up.
Because there was no EPA, no Clean Air Act, no Clean Water Act in 1970, there were no legal or regulatory mechanisms to protect our environment. In spring of that year, Senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day as a way to force this issue onto the national agenda.
Father/daughter duo Miten and Gitika Neghandi, on left, took the national trend to the local neighborhood level.
