The Shaker baseball team became the first Suburban Council opponent to beat Shenendehowa this season.
The Blue Bison (4-4 league, 6-5 overall) scored three runs in the top of the second inning and pulled away for a 7-2 victory over the Plainsmen (8-1, 11-1) in Monday’s North Division game in Clifton Park.
Every player in Shaker’s lineup had at least one hit or one RBI to hand Shen its first loss of the season. Nick Gavin led the way with three singles, while Sean Egan contributed a double and a single.
Shaker starting pitcher Nick Demarco limited the high-scoring Plainsmen to two runs on four hits in six innings of work. Shen had averaged 10 runs per game coming into Monday’s contest. Tyler Hoffman pitched a scoreless seventh inning to seal the Blue Bison’s win.
Josh Hayner singled twice for Shen.
