COLONIE — Police arrested a 41-year-old homeless man for stealing food from the High Voltage Coffee and Tea Kiosk in Colonie Center.
According to Lt. Robert Winn, the owner of the kiosk reported stolen food on June 28, June 30 and July 1. The owner had surveillance images of the suspect but was not able to immediately provide a copy to officers.
There was $30 worth of food and $200 damage to the gate during the June 30 burglary and $21.25 worth of food stolen on July 1.
The mall does have security patrol overnight, but were not successful in locating the suspect.
After the first two robberies, Colonie police placed two officers in the mall. On July 2, at 12:03 a.m. officers Christoper Hooks and Casey Ogden spotted the suspect entering the kiosk and placed him under arrest.
Peter Risto is charged with the felony of burglary, a misdemeanor of petit larceny and trespass, a violation.
Additional charges for the three previous dates are expected.
