Get To Know …
Robert Baron
Voorheesville girls basketball coach
Residence: Voorheesville
What kind of music do you listen to?
I actually like the rock and roll from the late 1960s and the 1970s because that’s what I grew up on, but I’ll listen to just about anything except rap.
What TV shows do you watch?
I like “Blacklist.” That’s probably my favorite show right now.
What kind of books do you read?
I like a lot of the James Patterson books. They’re mostly detective-type books.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Between work and coaching basketball, I don’t have a lot of time for outside activities. I do like to travel to see my kids.
What is your dream vacation?
I go on a dream vacation every year. We go to Aruba every year. I like visiting the (Caribbean) islands.
What is your favorite local memory?
Locally, I think it’s both of my girls winning state basketball championships (at Voorheesville). I think most of my memories are wrapped around my family.
Who is one person, dead or alive, you would want to meet, and why?
Abraham Lincoln. As an American president, he went through a lot.
What is your favorite meal?
I love Thanksgiving meals where there are a variety of foods. I love a smorgasbord of food.
What is a surprising fact about you?
I played football on my wedding night. I was playing semi-pro football for the (Albany) Metro Mallers, and they had a game that night. They told me if I played in it, we’d get a trip to Bermuda for our honeymoon. Debbie was all for it because we had no other way to go on a honeymoon. So, I suited up and played that night, and a few weeks later, we had our honeymoon in Bermuda.
