Editor, The Spotlight;
A massive natural gas pipeline called the Northeast Direct is proposed to run through Bethlehem, slicing through forests and farms, potentially imperiling residents, and delivering no benefit to the town. In fact, most of the gas from the Pennsylvania fracking fields will likely be exported.
The First Reformed Church of Bethlehem has done an outstanding job bringing together residents to stand against the pipeline. Now, all Bethlehem residents need to speak out and help protect our neighbors and our town.
Please take a moment to contact Governor Andrew Cuomo and ask him to not issue any state permits until a comprehensive Health Impact Assessment has been completed. It will only take a few minutes, but if we all speak together, our collective roar may be enough to protect our neighbors – and ourselves.
