State Police in Wilton are investigating a fatal collision between a tractor trailer and a pedestrian on the Northway in Wilton that they’re currently treating as a suicide, according to police reports.
According to police reports, the collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the southbound lanes between exits 16 and 15, near the Jones Road overpass.
The victim, a 64-year-old Halfmoon man, was struck by a 2010 Peterbuilt tractor trailer operated by 31-year-old driver from Ohio.
Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicate that the victim was outside his vehicle on the right shoulder and jumped out in front of the truck as it passed, according to police reports. At this time, the collision is being investigated as a suicide and no charges are pending against the truck driver, who has cooperated fully with the investigation, according to police reports.
