Saratoga racing fans will be able to get official Saratoga Race Course gear at regional Hannaford Supermarkets for the first time this summer, thanks to a partnership between the New York Racing Association, Inc. and Hannaford Supermarkets.
The New York Racing Association is pleased to partner with Hannaford Supermarkets to bring racing fans their first taste of summer in 201l. By offering official Saratoga merchandise ahead of Opening Day, we hope to create a true sense of excitement for the return of the thoroughbreds to Saratoga Race Course this July, said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward in a statement. `We are truly thrilled to make this merchandise available to our fans through such a valued retail and community partner.`
Beginning Wednesday, June 1, when the announcement was made, and Labor Day weekend, Hannaford Supermarkets in the Capital Region, North Country and Adirondacks will have Saratoga Race Course merchandise exclusively for sale.
`Saratoga Race Course offers a truly timeless summer tradition for families across the Capital Region,` said Hannaford Supermarkets District Manager Dennis Martin. `Hannaford is thrilled to enter into this exclusive partnership with The New York Racing Association to make these items available and accessible to fans across such a wide geographic area. I can think of no better way to celebrate the unofficial start of summer than by introducing official Saratoga merchandise that will inspire thoughts of opening day.`
There will be four exclusive items available: a Saratoga Race Course red and white baseball cap for $14.99; Saratoga Race Course red and white visor for $14.99; Saratoga Race Course stainless steel travel mug with red lettering for $14.99; and Saratoga Race Course water bottle with red and white lettering for $9.99.
The items will not be sold at the race course, only at the Hannaford Supermarkets in Albany, Amsterdam, Ballston Spa, Clifton Park, Colonie, Delmar, East Greenbush, Glens Falls, Glenville, Gloversville, Greenwich, Guilderland, Lake Placid, Latham, Niskayuna, Plattsburgh, Queensbury, Rotterdadm, Saratoga Springs, South Glens Falls, Troy, Voorheesville, Valatie, West Sand Lake and Wyantskill.
Saratoga Race Course will kick off its 143rd season on Friday, July 22, and run through Monday, Sept. 5.
