Man ate evidence at CVS, failed to show up to court
COLONIE – A homeless man was subject of a check a person call at McDonalds on Central Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 16 and found to be wanted for not showing up for court in Bethlehem on August charges.
Originally, Bethlehem police responded to CVS on Delaware Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 27 at approximately 11:47 a.m. for a report of a man taking food items from the store and eating them in the bathroom. According to reports, Ashanti Burch, 43, of Albany, then left the store.
Officers located Burch a short distance away, but the business decided not to pursue criminal charges for the now-consumed merchandise. They did, however, want to have Burch trespassed from the store. That is a process where a person is told that they are not welcome in the store again and can be charged if they return.
When officers checked his identification, they found he had an outstanding warrant from the City of Schenectady.
Burch was taken into custody and transported to meet Schenectady police at that time. Colonie police transported him to Bethlehem for the warrant.
DWAI-Drugs
LATHAM – A 30-year-old Fort Hunter woman was involved in a personal injury crash near the intersection of Troy Schenectady and Vly Roads on Saturday, Sept. 9 at approximately 8:48 a.m.
According to reports, the woman admitted to using cocaine three hours prior to the crash. She was transported to the Albany Medical Center Hospital with injuries accompanied by a Colonie police officer and refused to submit to a chemical test there.
She was charged with DWAI-Drugs and ticketed for not having insurance. The woman was scheduled back in Colonie Town Court on Sept. 20.
DWI
LOUDONVILLE – Colonie police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Albany Shaker Road and Timberland Drive on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 4:41 a.m. for traffic violations and found the driver was drunk.
According to reports, officers observed the driver, a 58-year-old Colonie man, to have poor motor coordination, slurred speech and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He was given a test for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device which returned a .17 percent BAC. The man was taken into custody and charged with DWI and ticketed for failure to stay in a single lane and impeding traffic by driving too slowly.
He was given an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on September 18.
DWI, leaves scene, no license
COLONIE – A 26-year-old Colonie man was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and not having a valid license by Colonie police on Monday, Sept. 11 at 6:03 a.m. on Mountain View Avenue.
The man was released with an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on September 25.
Warrant and larceny
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to the Target on Central Avenue on Monday, Sept. 11 at 8:47 a.m. for a report of a person stealing merchandise.
According to reports, officers located the suspect, Philip Hudson, 31, of Albany, at the bus stop in front of the store with the stolen objects in his possession.
When they performed a check on Hudson, officers found he had an outstanding warrant for not showing up to Colonie Town Court. He was charged with petit larceny and processed and arraigned on the warrant.
Grand larceny
LATHAM – A Guilderland man turned himself in to Colonie police on Monday, Sept. 11 for an incident that took place at Dicks House of Sports at Latham Farms in August.
Jason Gregory, 50, was charged with grand larceny and petit larceny and was released with an appearance ticket for September 27.
Warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police traveled to the Rensselaer County jail to get Christopher Crispell, 41 of Waterford for an outstanding warrant in Colonie for failing to appear in court in August.
Crispell was processed and arraigned by Colonie Judge Norman Massry.
Robbery
SCHENECTADY – On Monday, Sept. 11 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Colonie police traveled to the Schenectady County jail to arrest Jeffrey Caruso, 33, of Schenectady, on an outstanding warrant.
He was charged with robbery, a felony, and sent to the Albany County jail as a pre-arraignment detainee. He was scheduled back in court the next morning.
Outside warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police, investigating an incident on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at approximately 1:43 a.m. involving a person annoying during a traffic dispute found a Colonie man was wanted out of town.
Joseph Wilson, 53, had an active arrest warrant from the City of Watervliet and was taken into custody, processed, then transported to meet Watervliet police.
Stripping car parts, four incidents
COLONIE – An Albany man was arrested by Colonie detectives on Tuesday, Sept. 12 after an ongoing auto-parts theft investigation at three local dealerships.
Sherman Chambers, 49, was charged with four counts of grand larceny and two counts of criminal mischief, all felonies, and four counts of auto stripping, a misdemeanor.
The alleged thefts took place at Lia Honda on April 16, Nemer Volkswagen on April 20 and Audi of Albany on August 28 and September 3.
Chambers was arrested at the City of Albany police station and was arraigned in Colonie Town Court.

LATHAM – Colonie police arrested a homeless woman at the Super 8 motel on Wednesday, Sept. 13 and found she had an outstanding warrant from Troy.
Colette Rolle, 24, was processed and turned over to Troy police.
Outside warrant
COLONIE – Nathan Jennings, 34, of Philmont, was interviewed by Colonie police on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at Cricket Wireless on Central Avenue on an unrelated incident and found he was wanted in Columbia County.
He was processed and transported to meet Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies on I-90.
Larceny and parole warrant
LATHAM – Colonie police responded to a call for a larceny at Burlington Coat Factory on Friday, Sept. 15 and found the suspect wanted on a parole warrant.
Tyrelle Joseph, 42, of Albany was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and processed on the felony warrant. He was sent to the Albany County jail to be held for the DOCS warrant.
Violated condition of probation,bail jumping
COLONIE – A woman with a history of robbery, credit card thefts and not showing up for court was turned over to Colonie police on Friday, Sept. 15 by Albany police.
In June, Shanice Walker, 34, of Albany, was arrested on Central Avenue for Robbery, grand larceny and harassment while also having an outstanding warrant for another incident.
She was arrested again in July for not showing up for that court date.
This time she was charged with bail jumping, a felony, and violating a condition of probation and arraigned by Colonie Town Judge Norman Massry. According to reports, Walker also was in possession of two credit cards in someone else’s name. Police took those for safe keeping.
Level 3 sex offender
CLIFTON PARK – A homeless man was located in a vehicle in Clifton Park and taken into custody on Friday, Sept. 15 because he did not provide information to Colonie police.
James Rowe, 38, is registered as a Level 3 from Penn. for two prior sexual assault convictions in 2008 and 2012. He was charged with failing to register, failing to verify address and failing to report a change of address, all felonies. He was sent to Albany County Jail as a pre arraignment detainee. He is currently still in the Albany County jail.
No license,had warrant
COLONIE – A 34-year-old Schenectady woman was stopped by Colonie police for traffic violations on Friday, Sept. 15 at approximately 12:45 a.m. and found to have an active warrant for not showing up for court.
Natalie Thomas was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and ticketed for operating a vehicle without a license, failure to stay in a single lane and failure to keep right. She was processed on the warrant and sent to the Albany County jail as a pre-arraignment detainee.
Criminal contempt times two
COLONIE – Benjamin Leonce, 49, of Albany, was arrested by Colonie police on Friday, Sept. 15 for criminal contempt and criminal contempt with prior convictions, both felonies at the Motel 6 on Central Avenue.
He was arraigned in Colonie Town Court by Judge Norman Massry and sent to the Albany County jail.
Warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a domestic dispute on Bauer Drive on Saturday, Sept. 16 at approximately 4:33 a.m. and found Nathaszia Gooden, 29, of Brooklyn wanted by State Police. She was transported to meet Troopers for a warrant from Brunswick Town Court.
Man arrested again for felony charges and warrant
COLONIE – A homeless man who has been arrested for multiple thefts in the area was picked up by Colonie police at the Schenectady County jail on Monday, Sept. 18 and charged with additional crimes stemming from a May incident at Home Depot in Latham. He also had an active warrant for not showing up to court.
In June, Colonie police responded to Walmart and took John Dominy, 52, into custody for larceny and found him to have pending charges for grand larceny in four other cases.
He was charged with two counts of grand larceny, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor in the Colonie case.
Dominy also had multiple other larceny charges in Bethlehem in the last 8 months.
He was processed and released with an appearance ticket. He was scheduled to return to Colonie Town Court on Wednesday, June 7, but did not.
This time he was charged with burglary and grand larceny, both felonies, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was processed on the warrant and arraigned by Colonie Judge David Green.
Burglary and larceny
COLONIE – Dale Sousie, 42, of Watervliet, was produced from the Rensselaer County jail on Monday, Sept. 18 to face charges for an August incident on Jones Drive.
He was charged with burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and arraigned by Colonie Town Judge David Green.
Petit larceny, warrant
COLONIE – A homeless man was the subject of a larceny call at the Colonie Plaza on Central Avenue on Monday, Sept. 18 and found to be wanted by Schenectady police. Gary Walker, 39, was transported to meet Schenectady police.
Two with warrants at Red Roof Inn
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a check subjects call on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at approximately 3:32 a.m. and found both people to be wanted by State Police.
John Hammond, 45, of Halfmoon and Riley Houle, 26, of Albany were both wanted in Clifton Park and taken into custody. They were both turned over to State Police.
Check scam at Sunmark
COLONIE – A Schenectady man on parole was arrested by Colonie police on Tuesday, Sept. 19 for an August incident at Sunmark on Central Avenue.
Anthony Bonneau, 46, was charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument, one count each of identity theft, grand larceny and attempted grand larceny, all felonies.
He was arraigned by Colonie Town Judge David Green.
Outside warrant
COLONIE – After a call for a fight at the Sure Stay Hotel on Wolf Road on Tuesday, Sept. 19, Colonie police found one of the subjects had an outstanding warrant from Schenectady.
Kevin Hines, 42, of Albany was taken into custody and transported to meet Schenectady police.
Bail jumping, warrant
RENSSELAER – City police picked up a man, turned him over to Colonie police on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and they charged him with bail jumping, a felony, and processed him for an active warrant for not showing up for court in Colonie.
Guillermo Santiago, 50, of Albany, is no stranger to law enforcement in the area.
In May Colonie police picked him up at the Saratoga County jail to face charges from a May 2022 incident at Kohl’s on Central Avenue.
Santiago was charged with grand larceny, a felony in that case. He was processed and arraigned.
Santiago was arrested in October 2021 after leaving the Albany County jail by Bethlehem police on a warrant after they were called to Tractor Supply in Glenmont in September 2021. At that time, Santiago placed seven Carhartt jackets into a cart, left the store and drove away. Four days later, he returned to the same store and put six more Carhartt jackets into a bag and left the store.
He was arraigned that time by Town Justice Andrew Kirby, that time, and turned over to State Police for another outstanding warrant out of Clifton Park.
In November, Santiago was arrested by Colonie police in connection with a June 2022 incident at Colonie Center. That time he was transported from the Albany County Jail to face charges of robbery, burglary and conspiracy, all felonies. He was at the jail on other charges. That incident at Colonie Center included five offenders and had two victims. He was processed and arraigned on those charges in Colonie.
It is unclear what happened after arraignment on May 15 in Colonie Town Court, but failed to appear after that.
