Former employee charged with multiple felonies
DELMAR – Bethlehem police received a call from Domino’s pizza on Delaware Avenue on Monday, Sept. 25 at approximately 10:53 p.m. that a woman was inside the store, refusing to leave, destroying property and throwing various food items.
Upon arrival, the woman had left the restaurant in a car, but had left a trail of destruction.
According to reports, Kashyra Lewis, 26, of Albany, allegedly entered the store and complained to the manager that her order was not delivered. The manager initially asked Lewis to leave since they were closed but she refused. The argument escalated and Lewis went behind the counter and attempted to access the computer system.
The manager again said that the woman had to leave and she was not allowed behind the counter, then attempted to call 911.
Lewis allegedly forcibly grabbed the phone from the manager, ripped the handset away and threw the phone on the floor, preventing him from making the call.
Then Lewis allegedly pushed her way past the manager and entered the kitchen area. She proceeded to throw pizzas, food and soda around the restaurant and on the floor.
On the way out, she allegedly poured a bottle of soda into the portable air conditioning unit located in the seating area.
The manager was able to capture the license plate of the vehicle with a mobile phone and also provide police Lewis’s name and contact information because she was identified by staff as a former employee.
Officers contacted Lewis and she admitted involvement in the incident at the store and turned herself in the next day.
She was charged with burglary and criminal mischief – property damage, both felonies, Criminal mischief – disable equipment to prevent an emergency call, a misdemeanor, and harassment, a violation.
Lewis was arraigned by Bethlehem Judge Andrew Kirby and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court on October 17.
Bench Warrant
DELMAR – Bethlehem police responded to Delaware Avenue on Friday, Sept. 22 at approximately 11:14 p.m. for a check a subject call for a woman walking around a parking lot with a dog while barefoot.
Officers located Riley Houle, 26, of Watervliet sitting on a curb and made contact with her. A check of her identification found that she was wanted by the State Police in Saratoga County.
Houle was taken into custody and transported to Troop G headquarters.
Warrant
DELMAR – On Friday, Sept. 22 at 6:26 p.m. Bethlehem police observed a black BMW that had been identified earlier by a license plate reader as having a suspended registration and stopped the vehicle on Delaware Avenue after running a check on the vehicle which confirmed the registration was suspended for an insurance lapse.
Upon interviewing the driver, she gave the officer the identification of the passenger and owner of the car, Daniel Marchesani, 31, of Albany and verification of new insurance.
A check of Marchesani found he had an active arrest warrant from Greene County. He was taken into custody, processed and transported to meet deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
Crash on Wemple leads to DWI
GLENMONT – Bethlehem police responded to a report of an unknown crash on Wemple Road on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 3:14 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 4-door white BMW had struck a telephone pole and the driver had fled on foot. A short while later another patrol unit found a 19-year-old Selkirk man on River Road.
The man admitted to driving the vehicle in the crash and officers observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot and glassy eyes, and he was having difficulty maintaining his balance.
According to reports, upon interviewing the man he said he was returning from a friend’s house and had 3-4 Truly Seltzers and was driving between 50-60 mph when the accident occurred.
The man was given and failed field sobriety tests and tested positive for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device. He was taken into custody. At the police station, the man provided a breath sample that returned a .15 percent BAC.
He was charged with DWI and ticketed for speeding and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He was given an appearance ticket for Bethlehem Town Court for October 17 and released.
No license, but was wanted
DELMAR – On Monday, Sept. 25 at approximately 10:39 a.m. Bethlehem police observed a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado traveling north on Elm Avenue with plates that returned an expired inspection sticker.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, the driver identified himself verbally as Daniel Murphy, 43, of Selkirk and a DMV check found he had a suspended learner’s permit and an active arrest warrant from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
Murphy was taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without a license and not having an inspection certificate.
He was given an appearance ticket for those charges, processed on the warrant and turned over to the Sheriff’s deputies.
