Man shoots through floor of apartment, Also charged with illegal assault rifle
COLONIE – Colonie police arrested a man on an illegal gun charge after he accidently shot through the floor of his apartment building into the residence below.
According to reports, Cristian Ortega, 29, of Colonie, fired a single 9mm round through the floor of his Shaker Run apartment on Tuesday, July 11. During the follow-up investigation, police found Ortega to be in possession of an illegal assault rifle.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon – assault rifle, a felony, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. Ortega was arraigned by Colonie Town Judge Norman Massry.
No license, but DWI
COLONIE – Colonie police observed a disabled vehicle parked in the grass off the road near the intersection of Sand Creek and Watervliet Shaker Roads on Sunday, July 9 at approximately 8:27 p.m. and made contact with the driver.
When officers interviewed the driver, a 34-year-old from Latham, she showed signs of intoxication. She was given and failed field sobriety tests, but refused to submit to a test for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device. It was also determined that she did not have a valid license.
The woman was taken into custody for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors and refusal to take a breath test.
She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled back in Colonie Town Court on Monday, July 24.
Burglary and criminal mischief
LOUDONVILLE – On Monday, July 10, Colonie police responded to a Loudonville residence for a check-a-subject call at approximately 3:15 p.m. and found the man, who was the subject, to have charges.
Harold Cook, 46, of Loudonville, was taken into custody on charges in three separate incidents.
He was charged with two counts of burglary, both felonies, and criminal mischief – property damage and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.
He was arraigned by Colonie Town Judge Norman Massry.
Failure to appear
COLONIE – A Schenectady man was brought from the Schenectady County jail on Monday, July 10 for an outstanding warrant for not showing up for court in Colonie in April.
Kenneth Stuckey, 51, was arraigned by Colonie Judge Norman Massry.
Conspiracy charge
COLONIE – An Albany man was arrested Monday, July 10 on Wolf Road in connection with a City of Albany police case.
Ronald Henry, 38, was charged with conspiracy, a felony, and arraigned in Colonie Town Court by Judge Norman Massry.
Warrant
COLONIE – Richard Klemm, 52, of Lake George was brought over from the Albany County jail on Monday, July 10 on an active warrant.
Klemm was processed and arraigned by Colonie Town Judge Norman Massry for not showing up for court in February.
Grand larceny
COLONIE – A 19-year-old Albany woman turned herself in on Monday, July 10 to Colonie police to face charges in a May 18 incident at TJ Maxx on Wade Road.
Desiree Fowler was charged with grand larceny, a felony, and arraigned.
Felony warrant
LATHAM – Colonie police responded to Latham Farms on Tuesday, July 11 at approximately 12:34 a.m. to assist a woman and found she was wanted on felony charges.
Rachel Depp, 46, of Cobleskill, was looking for information regarding getting into a homeless housing program. When officers checked her identification they found she had an active warrant from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s office.
She was taken into custody and transported to meet officers from that department.
Bench warrant
SCHENECTADY – Jaquan Sams, 33, of Schenectady, was detained by city police and turned over to Colonie police on Tuesday, July 11 on the strength of a warrant.
The warrant was for not showing up for court in December 2021.
Bail jumping and warrant
COLONIE – A 45-year-old Hillsdale man was transported to Colonie by Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday, July 12 to face charges for not showing up for court.
Jeremy Shook, was charged with bail jumping, a felony, and bench warrant for not appearing on April 26. He was processed on the charge, given an appearance ticket and transported to the hospital for treatment of an infection. He was due back in Colonie Town Court on Wednesday, July 19.
Grand larceny and identity theft
COLONIE – A Troy woman turned herself into Colonie police on Wednesday, July 12 to face charges stemming from a May 20 incident at the Shoppes at Latham Circle following a police investigation.
Joan March, 52, was charged with grand larceny, a felony, and identity theft and petit larceny, both misdemeanors in the case.
She was scheduled back in court that night.
Warrant at Colonie Center
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to Colonie Center on Tuesday, July 11 at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a domestic dispute and found one of the subjects to be wanted.
Giovanni Marrero, 19, of Albany was found to have an outstanding warrant from the Village of Menands. He was processed and transported to meet Menands police.
Criminal mischief and menacing
WATERVLIET – Colonie police took a local man into custody without incident on Friday, July 14 after an incident near his apartment the previous day.
Christopher Alpy, 37, of Watervliet, was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a felony, and menacing and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors, following a complaint.
He was processed and issued an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court.
