Chase on the Northway leads to Aggravated DWI
COLONIE – On July 5 at about 1:38 a.m., State Police attempted to stop a vehicle observed to be missing a front driver-side tire on the Northway in Colonie for vehicle and traffic law violations. The driver failed to comply, which resulted in a pursuit. The driver, later identified as a 26-year-old Latham man, eventually stopped.
He was arrested for DWI, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was transported to the Latham barracks for processing, where provided a breath sample that returned a 0.19 percent BAC.
The man was issued tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court on July 24 and released to a sober third party.
Two men for assault at car wash
COLONIE – Colonie police arrested two men on attempted assault and weapons charges on Saturday, June 17 for an incident that took place near the Hoffmans Car Wash on Central Avenue where they were both arrested near the intersection of Elmwood Street and St. George place at approximately 9:32 p.m.
Loxie Shaw, Jr, 20, of Schenectady, was charged with attempted assault, menacing with a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment and criminal obstruction of breathing, all misdemeanors. The second man, Twain Shaw, 22, of Far Rockaway, was charged with felony attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Both men were sent to the Albany County jail as pre-arraignment detainees.
Grand larceny at Macy’s
COLONIE – A 60-year-old Cohoes man was taken into custody at Macy’s at Colonie Center, Saturday, June 17 at approximately 4:43 p.m. for grand larceny at the store.
Marcel Veede was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled in Colonie Town Court on June 28. Felony grand larceny 4th degree is not a bail eligible charge.
Larceny call and warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a call for a larceny in progress on Sunday, June 18 at Trader Joes on Wolf Road and found a woman who was wanted for not showing up for court.
Kelly Golden, 43, of Latham, was processed on the warrant and released on an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on July 5.
Criminal mischief at Inferno
LOUDONVILLE – A Loudonville man was arrested on Sunday, June 18 at 4:43 p.m. after an incident at Inferno Pizza on Albany Shaker Road.
Robert Ruth, 49, of Loudonville was arrested by Colonie police and charged with criminal mischief – damaging another’s property, a felony. He was released on an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on June 28. Felony criminal mischief is not bail eligible.
Felony assault
COLONIE – A 19-year-old Colonie woman was charged with felony assault with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon on Monday, June 19 after a domestic dispute. She was also charged with harassment for an additional incident the prior day.
Sanjida Faima, allegedly threw a knife at another person and struck them in the head. She was arraigned by Colonie Judge Norman Massry.
Criminal mischief at Hobby Lobby
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to Hobby Lobby on Wolf Road at approximately 3:09 p.m. for a check a person call and arrested a Ballston Spa man after an investigation.
Matthew Piercy, 25, was charged with felony criminal mischief- property damage and criminal mischief- intent of causing property damage, a misdemeanor. He was transported to Samaritan hospital for an evaluation due to his level of consciousness and given an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court.
Vehicular assault
COLONIE – A Menands man turned himself in to Colonie police on Wednesday, June 21 for charges stemming from a personal injury automobile accident on Central Avenue on May 28.
Anthony Lee, 61, was charged with vehicular assault and assault with a weapon, both felonies, and assault- physical injury, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and ticketed for failing to stay in a single lane.
Lee was arraigned by Colonie Town Judge Norman Massry.
Felony warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police arrested a Colonie man on an outstanding warrant following a domestic dispute on Wednesday, June 21 at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Wais Rafiqie, 31, was processed and transported to meet Schenectady police at the town line.
Felony warrant
COLONIE – A traffic stop for violations near the intersection of Sand Creek and Wolf Roads on Thursday, June 22 at approximately 2:24 p.m. resulted in Colonie police arresting an Albany man because he was wanted.
A check of Benz Coleman, 32, returned an outstanding felony warrant from State Police in Highland. He was transported to meet state police.
Felony Aggravated DWI-Leandra’s Law
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a minor single-vehicle personal injury crash near the intersection of Airport Park Boulevard and Albany Shaker Road on Friday, June 23 at approximately 11 p.m.
Officers observed the driver, Andres Morales, 27, of Latham, to have glassy eyes, poor balance, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He was given and failed field sobriety tests and tested positive for breath alcohol on a pre-screening device.
At the police station he provided a breath sample that returned a BAC that was above .18 percent. A child under the age of 16 was in the vehicle.
Morales was charged with aggravated DWI-Leandra’s Law, a felony, and aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was given an appearance ticket and released. Morales is scheduled to return to Colonie Town Court on July 10.
Handgun in the Pinebush
COLONIE – An Allentown, Penn. woman was arrested for having an illegal handgun in the Pine Bush Preserve on Friday, June 23 after she was released from Ellis Hospital.
Melissa McAllister, 35, was transported to the police station and given an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on July 12.
Robbery at Macy’s
COLONIE – A 39-year old Albany woman was arrested Monday, June 26 and charged with robbery, a felony, in connection with a October incident at Macy’s in Colonie Center.
Jessica Burgess was brought over by Albany County jail staff to face the charges. She was arraigned on the charge
Weapons charges at Kohl’s
COLONIE – Niskayuna police transported a homeless woman back to Colonie on Tuesday, June 27 after an incident at Kohl’s on Central Avenue earlier in the day.
According to reports, Shantee Tarver, 27, allegedly menaced a victim with a weapon earlier in the day. She was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and menacing, a misdemeanor.
