COLONIE — A lieutenant with the Midway Fire Department was arrested for allegedly using his cell phone to record video and/or take photos under the skirt of a female shopping at the Target on Central Avenue.

According to Lt. Daniel Belles, Colonie police were called on Wednesday, July 13, and identified Kevin Hart, 25, of Colonie, as the man who a day prior was seen following multiple women throughout the store for extended lengths of time.

HART

A statement on the Midway Facebook page stated it is aware “of the charges against Lieutenant Kevin Hart. Kevin has been suspended from all fire department activities until further notice.”

According to Belles, Hart was seen on at least one occasion using the cell phone in the inappropriate and illegal manner. He did so in the presence of a young child who may have observed his behavior, Belles said.

A search warrant was executed at his home and several electronic devices were seized to determine whether there were more victims. He was arrested on Thursday, July 21, and as of Tuesday, July 26, there were no known additional victims.

Hart stands charged with the felony of unlawful surveillance and the misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and public lewdness.

He was arraigned in the Town of Colonie Justice Court, and was released on his own recognizance.

The investigation is and ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Colonie Police Investigations Division at 518-783-2754.
