SOUTH BETHLEHEM–A crash near the intersection of Route 396 and Star Road on Sunday, Aug 14 claimed one life and landed another in jail for DWAI.
Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the head-on, two-vehicle crash. One operator, Samuel Keir, 52, of Hannacroix, was found to be unlicensed and impaired by drugs and alcohol. The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene. The name is being withheld at this time until notification of next of kin.
According to police, Keir had his driving privileges revoked due to previous DWI related incidents. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, DWAI-combination of drugs and alcohol, a misdemeanor and other traffic violations.

Keir was processed, given appearance tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear in Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, Sept 20.
