BETHLEHEM — Bethlehem police arrested a 39-year-old Rensselaer man in relation to thefts, a traffic infraction, and possessing heroin on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Glenmont Planet Fitness location on 329 Glenmont Road.

Police initially were investigating a number of thefts from gym patrons’ unlocked lockers for the past month but were called to the Planet Fitness parking lot after a resident observed a man allegedly injecting himself with heroin there. The man attempted to flee but upon being stopped, police determined he was the same man responsible for the aforementioned locker larcenies, as per their investigation. John M. Seneta was arrested and charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a traffic infraction for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Seneta was transported to the Bethlehem Police Department and has a scheduled return court date at the Town Court on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Bethlehem police are still investigating the locker larcenies though with the East Greenbush PD.

Gym patrons are advised by police to always secure their personal belongings in a locked locker. Anyone with information on this case should contact Bethlehem police at 518-439-9973.
