BETHLEHEM—On Saturday, March 17, at approximately 9:15 p.m., state police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the Town of Bethlehem for a reported vehicle and traffic violation. During the interview of the driver, Davon A. Sanders, age 27, of Utica, and his passenger Shawntelle R. Spratt, age 20, of Utica, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was reportedly established, revealing that both subjects were in possession of approximately 152 grams of Fentanyl and approximately 2 grams of marijuana. Both were taken into custody, transported, and processed at the state police station in Albany, where they were subsequently charged with: two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A felony; two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (with intent to sell), a class B felony (with intent to sell); two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Saunder also received a traffic violation.
Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court the following day and remanded to the Albany Court Jail with no bail. They were scheduled to return to court on March 20 at 4 p.m.
