BETHLEHEM—On Saturday, March 10, at 4:50 p.m., the Bethlehem Police Department arrested a Delmar man in regards to an on-going sexual abuse investigation. Officers arrested David B. Wood, 52, of Delmar, after an investigation revealed that he had inappropriate sexual contact with two victims under the age of fifteen. Both of the victims were known to the defendant.
Wood was charged with one felony count of course of sexual conduct against a child in the second degree, and misdemeanor counts of sexual abuse in the third degree, sexual misconduct, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court by Judge Ryan Donovan, and released on $30,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to Bethlehem Court on April, 3, 2018, at 4 p.m.
During the course of the investigation it was determined that Wood is a volunteer with clubs associated with the Bethlehem Central School District at the Bethlehem High School. Wood worked on after school activities at the school. As of this time, there is no information that any of the offenses took place on school property or that he met the victims through this volunteer work. The Bethlehem Police Department is working with the Bethlehem Central School District to inform the school community of this incident.
