The 45th Annual Gazette Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 17, transformed State Street in downtown Schenectady into a magical and mythical scene during the two-hour parade. This year’s theme, “Magic and Myths,” had floats showcasing a wide range of sights from zombies to Harry Potter, with some traditional Christmas characters for good measure. Kathe Sheehan, owner of The Costumer, served as Grand Marshal of the parade.
More than 100 local organizations participated with floats, dance troupes, marchers and bands. The parade, sponsored by the Chamber of Schenectady County, was estimated to have attracted around 15,000 people, according to county officials.
