COLONIE – The Albany Empire are gearing up for Opening Day of its inaugural season on April 14 against the Philadelphia Soul.
The Empire, the first Arena Football League team to call Albany home since 2000, recently announced it will offer $1 hotdogs at the Times Union Center for the 7 p.m. game, and that the CBS Sports Network will broadcast it live nationwide. On the dial, the Alt, 105.7 will also broadcast live.
A pre-game block party will kick off on South Pearl Street at 4 p.m. and post-game festivities will take place at Johnny Rockets where fans, the players, the coaching staff, the dance team and the staff will celebrate the AFL’s return to the Capital District.
Last month, under head coach Rob Keefe, the team signed a roster of players from top colleges across the country and have been practicing at Afrims off Troy Schenectady Road.
After its inaugural game, the team will travel to Washington on April 21 and Baltimore on April 28 and then back at the Times Union Center to take on the Washington Valor on May 5.
