Boys basketball: Colonie sneaks past Shaker

ALBANY COUNTY Colonie fended off a Shaker rally to beat the Blue Bison 48-46 in a Suburban Council boys basketball game Friday, Jan. 15, in Latham.

The Garnet Raiders led 25-15 at halftime, but the Blue Bison outscored them 31-23 in the second half to get close.

Isaiah Moll had 14 points, and Will Aybar contributed 11 points for Colonie. Brian Hayes scored 18 points for Shaker, and Ben Diamond chipped in with 14 points.

In other Suburban Council action, Bethlehem suffered its seventh loss of six or fewer points this season with a 69-65 setback at Saratoga.

Hayden Thompson netted 14 points, and Michael Ortale added 11 points for Bethlehem, which nearly overcame a slow start in which it trailed Saratoga 27-15. Adam Anderson and Alex Skaine each scored 16 points for the Blue Streaks.

Guilderland fended off Niskayuna 60-53 behind Andrew Sischo’s 33-point performance. Aidan Byrne and Andrew Evans each had 16 points for Niskayuna, which trailed Guilderland 36-25 at halftime.

Christian Brothers Academy handled Ballston Spa 68-37. The Brothers led 40-17 at halftime, and they never looked back.

Mike Wynn poured in 21 points, and Sloan Seymour chipped in with 20 points for CBA.

In the Colonial Council, Voorheesville jumped out to a 38-22 halftime lead and cruised to a 67-54 win against LaSalle. Trevor Riede led three Blackbirds in double figures with 15 points. Scott Glasheen contributed 14 points, and Sean Nolan added 12 points for Voorheesville.

Watervliet overcame Jordan Adadms’ 23-point performance to defeat Cohoes 53-35. Joey Atkins netted 16 points, and Ty’Jon Gilmore added 13 points for the Cannoneers.

Loudonville Christian defeated Waterford 50-43 in a Central Hudson Valley League contest. Thomas Seeberger scored 21 points, and Zach Herrin added 13 points for the Eagles.
