Boys basketball: Big second half propels Colonie

ALBANY COUNTY A big second half helped Colonie defeat Mohonasen 67-39 in a Suburban Council boys basketball game Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Trailing 23-18 at halftime, the Garnet Raiders outscored Mohonasen 49-16 over the final two quarters to emerge with the win.

Isaiah Moll scored 18 points, and Will Aybar contributed 12 points for Colonie. Duncan Tallman paced Mohonasen with 12 points.

In other Suburban Council action, Shenendehowa jumped out to a 31-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised past Christian Brothers Academy 74-46. Kevin Huerter led three Shen players in double figures with 16 points, while Mike Wynn netted 21 points for CBA.

Bethlehem built a 42-13 halftime lead and defeated Averill Park 61-46. Michael Ortale had 16 points, and Ryan Murray chipped in with 12 points for the Eagles, while Isaiah Moak scored 12 points for the Warriors.

Guilderland also used a big first half to propel itself to a 64-40 win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Justin Monin netted 17 points, and Quinn Ryan added 12 points for Guilderland, which led 34-6 at halftime. Jacob Carroll and Alexander Wellington each scored 10 points for the Spartans.

Watervliet got 21 points from Ty’Jon Gilmore in a 69-54 Colonial Council victory over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Darren Whited contributed 15 points for the Cannoneers, while Matthew Ferreiro’s 13 points paced the Indians.
