ALBANY COUNTY The Guilderland boys basketball team used a 24-3 run in the first quarter to pull away from Christian Brothers Academy in a 61-31 Suburban Council win on the first night of the season Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Andrew Sischo scored 17 points, and Justin Monin contributed 14 points for the Dutchmen (1-0). Sloan Seymour netted 15 points to pace CBA (0-1) in its Suburban Council debut.
In other Suburban Council action, Schenectady built a 10-point halftime lead and held on for a 78-72 victory over Bethlehem in Delmar.
Tyrone Jenkins had 25 points, and Cameron Coles chipped in with 13 points for the Patriots (1-0). Luke Dole poured in 20 points for the Eagles (0-1), while Michael Ortale contributed 19 points and Andrew Wollner added 17 points.
In the Colonial Council, Voorheesville began with a 57-54 victory at Fonda-Fultonville. The Blackbirds (1-0) led 40-28 after three quarters, but had to hold on at the end to pull out the win.
Sean Nolan netted 14 points, while Scott Glasheen and Trevor Reide each added nine points for Voorheesville. Dan Parslow’s 33 points paced Fonda (0-1).
