The Colonie boys lacrosse team had an up-and-down first week.
Two days after notching their first Suburban Council win of the season against Columbia, the Garnet Raiders (1-2 league, 2-2 overall) suffered a 10-8 loss to Guilderland Saturday, April 4.
Colonie rallied from a 7-5 deficit to take an 8-7 lead in the fourth quarter, only to see Guilderland (1-1, 1-1) score the final three goals of the game to pull out the victory.
Gus Schwenk scored five goals, and Ryan Fish contributed a hat trick for the Dutchmen, who were coming off a 9-7 loss at Bethlehem Thursday, April 2. Goaltender Sam DiPace had 13 saves.
Sam Keller recorded three goals, Joe Mineau tallied twice and Liam Dollard added a goal and three assists for Colonie.
The Garnet Raiders had no issues in their 18-8 victory over Columbia April 2 in East Greenbush. They jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter and tacked on six second quarter goals to put the game out of the Blue Devils’ reach.
Ten Colonie players scored goals in Thursday’s win, paced by Mineau’s four-goal, two-assist effort. Matt Fisher and Jason Grandeau both notched hat tricks, and Dollard added two goals and six assists.
