Colonie police are investigating a fatal hit and run incident. A local woman was hit around 8:15 p.m., on Monday, April 13, and police are asking anyone who may have more information contact the department.
The incident occurred on Central Avenue between Madison and Hudson avenues. Renee Bruneau, 54, of Colonie, was struck by a vehicle and taken to Albany Medical Center, where she died to her injuries.
Police said that Bruneau was crossing Central Avenue when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and no description of the vehicle was obtained. Based on the lack of physical evidence from the vehicle, it is possible the driver is unaware they hit a pedestrian, according to police.
The Traffic and Safety Unit continues to investigate and asks that any possible witnesses call the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
