The Shaker girls basketball team defeated Albany Leadership Charter School 74-30 Saturday to complete a sweep of its weekend games.
The Lady Bison (15-0 league, 17-0 overall) raced out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter, and they continued to press the tempo on their way to earning their second non-league victory of the season.
Jenni Barra, Colleen Felt and Erin Pepe all scored 11 points to lead a balanced Shaker attack. Vianah Smith and Becky Rossier each added nine points.
McKenna Lee Gordon’s eight points paced Albany Leadership (11-3).
Shaker began the weekend with a 68-36 Suburban Council victory over Ballston Spa (2-13, 2-15). Again, the Lady Bison wasted little time in establishing a large lead as they out-scored the Scotties 33-7 in the first half.
Merrick Rowland had 14 points, and Sage VanAmerongen added 11 points for Shaker. Paige Gallo netted 13 points, and Olivia Allrich contributed 12 points for Ballston Spa.
The win over Ballston Spa gives Shaker a three-game lead over Shenendehowa (12-3, 14-3) entering Tuesday’s regular season finale at Siena College. The contest is part of a special doubleheader with the Shen and Shaker boys basketball teams, who will play following the girls game at 6:30 p.m.
