The Shenendehowa girls soccer team turned in a dominating performance in Wednesday’s 2-0 Suburban Council victory at Bethlehem.
The Plainswomen (4-1-1) out-shot the Lady Eagles 17-2. Only a strong effort by Bethlehem goaltender Katie Nickles (15 saves) kept the Lady Eagles in the game.
Meghan Merritt scored in the first half, and Sophia DiNinni tallied in the second half for Shen.
Bethlehem’s record dipped to 5-1-0.
In other Suburban Council girls soccer action Wednesday, Guilderland pulled away for a 4-1 victory over Shaker.
Laurie Knapp and Lauren Kogelmann each scored twice for the Lady Dutch (3-2-1). Jenny Barra tallied for the Blue Bison (4-2-0).
Field hockey
Niskayuna scored three times in the first half on its way to a 4-0 Suburban Council field hockey victory over Shaker Wednesday.
Ali Wells scored twice for the Silver Warriors (5-0). Anna Torri and Carrie Hanks also notched goals, and goaltender Emily King made two saves for the shutout.
Goalie Emily Phillips stopped 12 shots for Shaker (1-4).
Golf
Saratoga Central Catholic improved its record to 10-2 by beating Schoharie 13-2 in Wednesday’s Western Athletic Conference golf match at Saratoga Spa State Park.
Dylan Seeber shot a nine-hole round of 42, and Drew Welcome added a 43 for the Saints. Evan Ottman’s 43 paced Schoharie.
Boys volleyball
Shenendehowa improved its record to 6-1 with Wednesday’s 3-0 Suburban Council sweep against Mohonasen in boys volleyball.
Josh Olsen had 11 kills and two service aces for the Plainsmen, who won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23. Austin Jensen contributed nine kills, and Tyler Ostrowski added 22 assists.
