DELMAR — The Guilderland Impact 18u had two big innings to beat the Bethlehem Blaze 10-3 in a weekend tournament at the Line Drive fields on Sunday, Oct. 25.
The Impact jumped out to a 1-0 lead after one and the Blaze tied it up in the top of the second only to see Guilderland score three more in their half of the inning. The Impact took a 6-3 lead into the sixth and then exploded for four runs for the 10-3 final.
For the impact, Bella Bermas went 3 for 4 with five RBIs, Abby Nautel went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Caitlin Pierce went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Rachael Lennon went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Jane Reagan, Jenna Trembley and Alyssa VanGasbeck all added hits.
Ashley Ciafardo and Melody Kappel went 2 for 4 for Bethlehem while Anna Blessing and Ali Barron each went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Kelsey Simonian, Brianna Hubiak and Elainia Hallenbeck added hits.
Nautel got the win for the Impact, going all seven innings, giving up 11 hits and striking out one while not allowing any walks.
Melody Kappel went the distance for Bethlehem, giving up 12 hits while striking out 11 and walking three.
