COLONIE — The Cup will travel a little bit north, and the Shaker High School baseball team will have bragging rights for a year.
That’s the Colonie Cup, and Shaker beat Colonie during its first game on Saturday, May 11, and then beat CBA to close out the day 2-0 in the second annual round robin type tournament of the town’s three high schools.
“We have to make sure we keep the momentum going for the last week. We have four games coming up and we have to make sure we are playing hard. We got our bats going today and that helped and we got shut down pitching from two guys who have not got a lot of work,” said Shaker Coach Rispole “These guys are resilient and they wanted to compete and they wanted to win.”
And there is, of course, the matter of bragging rights.
“That’s always great too. We’ll put this one right next to the football one,” he added with a smile.
