SPOTTED: Shaker girls score 30 in the third to beat Guilderland

GUILDERLAND — Shaker scored 30 points in the third quarter and then held off the Lady Dutch in the fourth to win a Suburban Council matchup 64-54.

Shaker sophomore Sole Carrington led all scorers with 22, including 15 in the decisive third quarter. Freshman Kaelah Carter had 18, and sophomore Maddiyn Mahoney had 14 for the Bison, who have just two seniors on the squad.

Rachel Palladino had six, Kelly Kirker had two and Julia Debeatham and Madeline Malicki had a point each to round out the scoring for Shaker.

Guilderland sophomore Valencia Fontenelle-Posson had 19 to lead the Dutch, while Graci Serravillo had 16 and Graycen Dubin had 8. Aysia Pink chipped in six, Grace McFerran had three and Alana Holmes had two to round out the scoring for Guilderland.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, Shaker (5-4, 7-6) will travel across town to play at Colonie and Guilderland (5-4, 6-4) will play at Whitesboro.
