BETHLEHEM — The Eagles boys basketball team pulled out a 10-point win against Suburban Council rival Guilderland on Friday, Nov. 20.
Both teams got off to a slow start in their season opener, and Bethlehem led for the majority of the game but didn’t pull away until the fourth quarter, outscoring the Dutchmen 20-12.
Bethlehem’s Mike Ortale, who missed last season with an injury, led all scorers with 19 points while Justin Barnes scored 13 and Jake Laclair had 12. Will Davis scored 10 for Bethlehem and Zach Zonca scored seven, Eric Signor had four, Eric Salo had three and Dan Gilligan had two to round out the scoring for Bethlehem.
Ryan Teaney led Guilderland with 18 points while Christian Halayko had 14 and Anthony Moffre had a dozen. William Lia scored 11 and Dylan Gizzi chipped in five for the Dutchmen.
Between games, the boys and girls teams recognized high school teachers and gave them water bottles.
Bethlehem will host Shaker on Tuesday, Dec. 4 and play at Colonie on Thursday, Dec. 6. Guilderland will play at CBA on Tuesday and at Niskayuna on Friday, Dec. 7.
