COLONIE — Shaker girls volleyball took three of five sets against their Suburban Council, cross town rivals the Raiders on Thursday, Sept. 20, in a back and forth match that could have gone either way.
Shaker won the first set on the Colonie home court 25-23, Colonie the second 25-20, Shaker the third 25-18, Colonie the fourth 25-10 and Shaker the final 25-13.
Key stats for Shaker: Ella McCarthy with 20 assists and eight points, Sam Hardwick with 10 points and 10 kills and Jules Morrell with 13 points and six digs.
For Colonie: Jenny Mueller had 13 kills, five blocks and four aces, Hailey Wood had four kills and 20 digs, Mykala Ashline had 21 assists and Julia Tenney had five kills, 10 digs and four aces.
Colonie will play at Albany and Shaker will play at Ballston Spa on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
