DELMAR – Ricardo Estremera, of Albany, won the 30th running of the Delmar Dash on Sunday, April 15, finishing the five-mile course with a time of 24:48.
Jaime Julia, of Albany, finished a distant second with a time of 26:04 and Thomas O’Grady of Slingerlands came in third with 27:25.
Malta’s Diane Ryan was the first woman to cross the line with a time of 30 minutes flat, just ahead of Troy’s Olivia Beltrani, who finished at 30:04. Third place went to Albany’s Nicole Soblosky with a time of 30:16.
The runner that drew the most attention, though, was Anny Stockton, an 85-year-old from East Greenbush who set an 8K national record for women between 85 and 90 years old with a time of 1:07:21.
Officials with USA Track and Field set up an 8k finish line, which is just shy of the Delmar Dash finish line because the USATF does not officially recognize a five-mile race.
Stockton set the 15k national record at the Stockade-athon in Schenectady and in two weeks will try for the 10K national record in Boston.
