COLONIE – Shaker pulled out a triple overtime thriller in the Section II, Class A semifinals on Friday, May 26, by beating Bethlehem 5-4.
Luke Julien scored the game winner with 2:24 left on the clock in the third, four-minute sudden death overtime period.
The No. 1 seed Shaker will now play No. 2 Shenendehowa in the finals on Wednesday, May 31, at Mohonasen High School.
Shaker was up 3-1 at the half, and was up 4-1 when Bethlehem, the No. 5 seed, scored three unanswered to send the game to OT.
Julien had two goals and an assist, his teammate Jack Cheney had two goals and Andrew O’Connor chipped in a goal. Colin Sorady and Michael Stiso had an assist each.
Ethan Sheraw had two goals for Bethlehem, including one with about 90 second left to send the game to OT. Zach Nunez and Chris Kennedy each had a goal for The Eagles.
In goal Tyler Hull had an amazing 15 saves for Bethlehem and Brendan Morrison had six for Shaker.
The championship game starts at 7:30 p.m.
