It was the win the Bethlehem hockey team needed the most to prove it belongs in the Section 2 title conversation.
The Eagles got what they needed, as they rallied for a 4-2 Capital District High School Hockey League win against first-place LaSalle Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Hudson Valley Community College.
Jackson Carroll’s power play goal broke a 2-2 tie, and Andrew Koppelin added an empty-net goal to cap a three-goal third period for Bethlehem (5-2-1 league, 11-4-1 overall). Koppelin finished the evening with two goals and an assist.
The victory moved Bethlehem into a three-way tie with Christian Brothers Academy (6-4-0, 8-8-1) and Saratoga (5-5-0, 6-11-0) for fourth place in the CDHSHL standings. All three teams have nine standings points, 1.5 points behind third-place Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa. Saratoga can break the tie with a victory tonight, Feb. 1, against Shenendehowa (7-2-1, 8-8-1).
Ryan Murray scored both goals for LaSalle (11-2-0, 13-2-2).
