CLIFTON PARK — Niskayuna eased to the Division 1 team title at the Section 2 Girls Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Shenendehowa Aquatic Center.
The Silver Warriors compiled 403.5 points to finish first. Guilderland-Voorheesville was second with 322 points, and Shenendehowa placed third with 284.5 points.
Burnt Hills/Scotia’s Olivia Jack was the standout of the meet. The junior won the 100-yard breaststroke with an All-American time of 1:01.61 and finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with an All-American consideration time of 50.57 seconds.
Niskayuna’s Maggie Wyngowski and Shaker’s Emma McElrath each won a pair of individual events. Wyngowski finished first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke, while McElrath won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles.
Saratoga Springs’ Taylor Patnode (50-yard freestyle) and Guilderville’s Belen Marriaga (100-yard butterfly) also won individual events. Guilderville’s Evanna Peng took first place in the diving competition, which took place Thursday, Nov. 3.
Relay victories went to Burnt Hills-Scotia (200-yard medley), Guilderville (200-yard freestyle) and Niskayuna (400-yard freestyle).
