Editor, The Spotlight;
In 2015, the Bethlehem voter’s choices are obvious! Voters should choose a dedicated, effective and proven team that has consistently produced results that have restored fiscal security and efficiently delivered the services valued by our residents. The Democratic team has engaged in Town government as elected officials, employees and volunteers on committees and in many Town initiatives. The team of Democrats has been involved and productive.
In contrast, this year’s challengers lack pertinent experience and have little record of productive contributions to Town government. Most have not been participants or volunteers in governance at any level in our Town.
Choices are clear: John Clarkson’s leadership has been intelligent, transparent and his fiscal responsibility and forward thinking has put our Town in the best financial shape ever, while at the same time putting us on a path to timely and sensible capital improvements and adoption of award-winning efficiencies. Joyce Becker and David VanLuven have been long-standing participants in Town government and will bring very relevant experience to the Town Board that is especially important to our seniors, environmental, land planning and conservation interests.
Brent Meredith has brought the Highway Department into the 21st century with numerous innovations and efficiencies; Nanci Moquin and Alicia Roney have collaborated to give us model efficiency and modernization in the Clerk’s and Tax office.
Bill Reinhardt, Joanne Cunningham, Charlie Dawson and Matt Miller are poised to be Bethlehem’s hard-working and effective representatives in the Albany County legislature.
We support … good leadership, sound fiscal practices, innovation in government efficiencies and we know this Democratic team will continue to deliver stellar results for our Town. The 2015 Democratic slate, with its wide-ranging and relevant experience, will continue Bethlehem’s excellent services and responsible management.
