Editor, The Spotlight;
This summer and into the fall, visitors to Bethlehem Public Library have found themselves navigating a construction zone obstacle course on their way into and out of the library. As members of the library Board of Trustees, we understand that the town’s construction project along Borthwick Avenue, although much-needed, has had a significant impact on how people have been able to access the library.
We’d like to thank library staffers for the enormous amount of patience and effort they have dedicated to fielding questions and concerns about the delays, detours and program cancellations that have resulted from this roadwork.
Library patrons have also shown amazing resilience in the face of these difficulties, and for that, we are grateful. It says something wonderful about this community that its members value the library enough to make their way through the doors despite the many roadblocks.
Please know that staffers will continue to do their best to communicate the disruptions caused by the roadwork in a timely manner despite a shared uncertainty about the project’s progress. Information on the latest developments is frequently received with very little lead time and can change from day to day. We encourage you to check the library’s Facebook page or Twitter feed for updates. That information also appears on the website at www.bethlehempubliclibrary.org. Questions and concerns directly related to the work along Borthwick Avenue, however, would be best addressed by Town of Bethlehem officials.
Once again, we would like to thank our community members for the support and understanding they have shown as the library has adjusted to the consequences of the town’s major construction project.
