Editor, The Spotlight;
I think we can all agree that in Albany County, over the past several years, we have seen a steady improvement in services and financial management. That progress results from the hard work of our County Legislators and the leadership provided by our incumbent representative (in the 34th legislative district) Tom Cotrofeld.
As Chairman of the Legislature’s Audit and Finance Committee, Tom Cotrofeld has crafted consecutive budgets that result in NO PROPERTY TAX increases for Albany County residents. And who among us does not appreciate Tom Cotrofeld’s ongoing work on, and the recent opening of, the long awaited “Rail Trail”. At the same time Mr. Cotrofeld has been instrumental in advancing the interest of county residents on a number of social issues. In just the past year, Chairman Cotrofeld sponsored the Drinking Water Protection Law, which helps to protect the water table in Albany County, and adopted policies that led to the financial turnaround of the Albany County Nursing Home. During his tenure, Mr. Cotrofeld succeeded in providing tax breaks for our Veterans and our Volunteer First Responders; he worked to approve sorely needed capital improvements for the TU Center, and sponsored the effort to solarize county facilities, which will save taxpayers $40 million over the next 25 years.
It has been said that “Elections are about the Future.” As I think about our future here in Delmar and in Albany County, I hope that we will have elected representatives in government who work to make the American dream a reality for everyone, regardless of race, creed, or orientation. Tom Cotrofeld has demonstrated his commitment to these values and deserves our support.
On November 3, please vote for Row F of your ballot to re-elect Tom Cotrofeld.
