January Reading Challenge
New year, new reading challenge! We’re encouraging all ages to participate in Beanstack’s annual Winter Reading Challenge throughout the month of January. This year’s theme is “Where We Come From” – a unique collaboration between four authors that explores our origins, as well as what unites us.
Go to https://guilderlandlibrary.beanstack.org/reader365 to create an individual or family account. Log your reading minutes to fill your virtual bingo card, and complete fun activities to earn badges featuring artwork from the book itself. The top performing libraries and schools will earn prizes sponsored by Lerner Publishing. Happy reading!
Fright Club: The Shining
We’re kicking off the first four months of 2024 with a stellar Stephen King lineup. Register now for January’s Fright Club title, “The Shining,” then pick up your kit Jan. 2-7. You’ll read the book and answer discussion questions at your own pace, then we’ll watch the movie on Tues. Jan. 30 at 6:00 p.m. – all are welcome.
Night Owls Book Club
“Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus is the January Night Owls Book Club selection. This wildly popular bestseller, now an AppleTV series, follows the trajectory of Elizabeth Zott from early 1960s chemist to single mother and the reluctant star of America’s most beloved cooking show, daring women to challenge the status quo while they replicate her recipes. Please register on the Events Calendar at guilderlandlibrary.org to join the discussion (choice of in-person or online) on Mon. Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
