It’s time to climb aboard the Toy Train. For the second year, Spotlight News is helping the Toys for Tots campaign.
We’ve set up our drop box just inside our office door at 341 Delaware Ave. in Bethlehem. Currently, the box is empty. What we’re hoping is that you will come by with new, unwrapped toys, to fill it. We plan to be adding to it, as well.
You responded last year in ways we couldn’t imagine. Thanks to your efforts, we supplied the Toy Train with three boxes’ worth of toys that went to needy families across Upstate New York. That was far more than what we expected when we decided to become a drop-off site for the first time.
The need is still there this year. Many families still can’t afford to give their children new toys for the holidays, and that simply won’t do in our eyes. Every child deserves to receive a gift that will light up their eyes and give them a sense of joy.
We’re not asking for you to give anything more than you can afford, either. You don’t have to bring a brand new video game system or iPad. Something as simple as a board game or a stuffed animal is plenty for a child who doesn’t have a lot.
You can stop in at our office Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Thursdays, our lobby is open until 5 p.m. And if you can’t get to our office, there are many more donation boxes around the region waiting for your unwrapped toys.
Let’s fill the Toys for Tots boxes over and over again this holiday season and help more families have a happy holiday season.
