Adults, and teens in grade 6 and up, are invited to register for this Thursday, October 18 program to learn how to upcycle old mason jars into votive candle holders using paper decoupage. All supplies provided, just bring your creativity! Program starts at 6:30 p.m.
Saving Slater
Join Presenter Alan Fox at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for as he shares the story of U.S.S. Slater and why she was chosen to become the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum. Stories will be shared about the history of Destroyer Escorts, Slater’s involvement in WWII, her service in the Greek Navy, and her restoration, transforming her into a world class museum. Presented by a SLATER volunteer you will get a first-hand look at the hard work that goes into keeping the “Old Girl” afloat.
Don’t Get Ticked NY!
Avoiding Lyme and other tick-borne diseases requires avoiding a tick bite! Join Cornell University’s Joellen Lampman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30 as she talks about the different ticks in our area and their biology, the diseases they carry, and how to protect yourself and others from being bitten. Free tick removal kits will be offered to attendees willing to participate in a short survey.
Protecting our Native Bees and Native Plants
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, Peter Bowden will discuss all the new “Wildlife and Pet Friendly Garden Solutions” Many new organic and non-chemical products now available to the home gardener, for better and safe gardening.
