Comic mime Robert Rivest entertains audiences of all ages while motivating them to read, celebrate their libraries and move to the music of nature, animals and life all around us. Join us at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8. where everyone will learn cool mime movements, awesome laughter exercises and calming mindfulness activities ending with an interactive mime “poem” about the joys of reading, books and libraries. All ages welcome. No registration required.
Songwriting for Teens
Do you listen to music? Then you can write a song. No matter what experience level, songwriting is a fun way to share stories, feelings, and change the world around you. During this Monday, Aug. 13, workshop, you will learn the basics of songwriting by creating a group song, then break into pairs or solo work to find your own voice. Whether you are always humming new tunes, crafting lyrics, or just curious about it all, songwriting is for you.
Class runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to students entering grade 7 and up; please register.
Trip to Emily Dickinson House in Amherst
Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 25, for a day trip to visit the Emily Dickinson House in Amherst, Mass. We will have a 60 minute private guided tour of both “The Homestead” and “Evergreens” family houses. After the tour, there is time to explore the museum grounds and village on your own – a short walk to various eateries and shopping. $55 per person/ $50 for FOL members. Bus will leave Voorheesville at 7:45 a.m. and return around 6 p.m. Price includes transportation and Museum entry fee. Trip sponsored by the Friends of the Voorheesville Public Library.
