State Police arrested a state assemblyman and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on the Thruway in Coeymans on Tuesday, March 12.
Stephen M. Katz, 59, of Mohegan Lake, was charged with the violation after he was stopped for speeding at about 10 a.m., police said. He was released on an appearance ticket and was scheduled to appear in Coeymans Town Court on March 28.
Katz, a Republican, represents the 94th Assembly District, which includes parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties. The area is about halfway between Poughkeepsie and New York City. Katz was elected in 2010 and has a private veterinary practice.
