A Schenectady man wielding a knife tried to rob a Getty, but fled after a struggle with the clerk, according to police.
Rotterdam police arrested Kevin S. Allen, 44, of 926 Cleveland Ave., and charged him with attempted robbery in the first degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
Allen allegedly entered the gas station at 3060 Broadway, on Sunday, Oct. 7, around noon, with a knife in his hand and demanded money from the clerk. After Allen fled the store, witnesses observed him run to a parked vehicle in the nearby Dunkin Donuts parking lot, police said. He then drove away north on Cox Avenue.
Allen is being held at the Schenectady County jail.
