Three men wanted in connection with a large-scale marijuana growing operation discovered in New Scotland are set to turn themselves in, according to authorities.
Acting Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said John D. Haak, 32, Jason T. Ball, 34, and Jesse O. Galvin, 28, have all agreed to turn themselves in.
Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 161 Beaver Dam Road at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, after National Grid crews had responded to a fire that had been started using an accelerant. The fire burned a guide wire and eventually an electric pole located in a wooded area at the location, knocking out the power.
As Sheriff’s Deputies began their investigation, they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from a nearby brick building, which was secured with steel doors. The windows of the building were also blacked out and covered by protective bars.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies allegedly discovered hundreds of marijuana plants, approximately $30,000 in cash, a rifle and other evidence of an illegal growing operation.
Deputies then executed a search warrant at 217 Beaver Dam Road, where they discovered over 10 pounds of harvested marijuana, other drugs and cash. The three men are residents of 217 Beaver Dam Road.
