Another company has decided to lease space at the former state bakery and warehouse in Rotterdam less than a month after Galesi Group revealed plans for $2 million in upgrades to the building.
The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority Tuesday, Feb. 12, announced Captech Logistics is placing its third party logistics facility in the Rotterdam Corporate Park by leasing 43,000 square feet in Building 14. Captech Logistics will offer customized contract warehousing, web-based inventory management and distribution services at its Rotterdam location.
“Our goal is to allow our customers to focus on their core competencies while greatly reducing or eliminating their capital expenditures associated with the equipment, facilities and resources related to their warehousing and distribution services,” Allen Kintz, co-founder of Captech Logistics, said in a statement.
Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi said town officials have worked closely with the county to attract new businesses.
“We appreciate the fact that Captech Logistics selected Rotterdam over many competing sites in the Capital Region,” Buffardi said in a statement.
Dan Finkle, co-founder of Captech Logistics, said he is excited about selecting the Rotterdam warehouse for its new facility.
“The county’s economic development team worked with us every step of the way and the location where Route 7, I-88 and I-90 meet is outstanding,” Finkle said in a statement.
The company expects to employ 25 people at the Rotterdam site within four years.
County officials said Kintz and Finkle have “extensive” experience in distribution and logistics with manufacturing.
Finkle was formerly President of Finkle Distributors, which was sold to CoreMark International in 2010. The company had $350 million in sales, 300 employees and an 180,000 square foot distribution facility in Johnstown before CoreMark purchased it.
Kintz was the vice president of Kintz Plastics Inc. for 15 years, a major plastics manufacturer based in Howes Cave.
Schenectady County Legislature Chairwoman Judy Dagostino said Captech is a “great addition” to the corporate park, which has spurred new business to locate in the town.
The 260,000-square-foot facility known as Building 14 is slated for extensive renovations including replacement of the roof, installation of new truck dock canopies, exterior painting, new siding and upgrades to the building’s interior. The building had served as a bakery and warehouse for the state Office of General Services until operations stopped in 1995. Metroplex helped OGS surplus the building and prepare it for sale.
