Sheriff: ‘Please pray for my Sgt.’

COLONIE — Sheriff Craig Apple is asking the community to pray for one of his deputies involved in an accident on Monday morning on Central Avenue.

“Earlier today one of our members was involved in a serious PIA. He’s in serious condition @ AMC. His k9 is fine,” Apple wrote on Facebook. “Thank you to the Colonie fire depts. for extricating him. Thank you CPD for all your help and care. Thank you everyone who reached out. Now please pray for my Sgt.”

The Personal Injury Accident involved a Price Chopper/Market 32 tractor trailer and the sergeant’s marked SUV.

It occurred in front of the Colonie Plaza where there is a Price Chopper/Market 32 supermarket. It appears the tractor trailer was travelling eastbound and was pulling into the parking lot when the accident occurred.

The eastbound lane was shut down for most of Monday morning while Colonie police investigated.

More information as it becomes available.
