COLONIE — Police are investigating a fatal car-pedestrian accident along Troy Schenectady Road that occurred at 7:27 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22.
According to Lt. Robert Donnelly, the pedestrian, Nicholas Huban, was walking in the left westbound travel lane near Monroe Avenue on Route 2. He was pushing a leaf blower when he was stuck behind by a 2019 Nissan driven by a 59-year-old man from Latham.
The man, who had his 17-year-old son in the car, immediately stopped and attempted to render CPR on Huban. They are cooperating fully with the investigation and police do not believe speed or impairment are factors.
Troy Schenectady Road, or Route 2, was closed in both directions until the investigation is complete. Eastbound traffic was being diverted at Monroe Avenue and westbound traffic was being diverted at Swatling Road.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Colonie Police Traffic Division at 518 782-2600.
