COLONIE — Three men were arrested on Sunday, July 12 after police received a tip about an illegal handgun in room 216 of the Econo Lodge Motel on Central Avenue.

According to Lt. Robert Winn, police responded to the tip at around 7:53 p.m. and the three men were not in the room but were expected to return.
Surveillance was established and the three returned in a 2020 Toyota Corolla. A search warrant was executed and an illegal Taurus 9 mm handgun was located loaded with seven rounds. Also found was an illegal 32-round magazine loaded with 17 rounds.
The handgun was stolen in February in Polk County, Florida, Winn said.
A small quantity of marijuana was also found in the room.
Quincy K. Brown-Oliver, 25, of Lakeland, Florida stands charged with two felonies of criminal possession of a weapon, the felony of criminal possession of stolen property and the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana. There was also a felony warrant out for his arrest out of Albany.
Deveonte M. Williams, 25, of Bartow, Florida, stand charged with two felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance for the four grams of heroin and three grams of cocaine allegedly found on him at the time of the arrest.
Dawan W. Johnson, 41, of Albany is charged with the misdemeanor of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
Brown-Oliver and Williams were sent to the Albany County jail pending arraignment. Johnson was released on an appearance ticket.
