ALBANY — Beginning Sunday, March 22, toll collectors on the state thruway will not be collecting money or issuing toll tickets.
Rather, when exiting the thruway, motorists will tell the toll collector where they got on and the collector will record the license plate and the toll cost and a bill will be sent to the home of the registered owner of the vehicle within about 30 days.
Bills can be paid by credit card on the Thruway Authority’s website.
The new system will remain in place until further notice. Procedures for E-ZPass customers will not change.
The thruway’s service areas are open 24 hours a day with restrooms, gas, and take out/drive-thru food only.
Customers can contact the Thruway Authority during regular business hours Monday through Friday at 518-471-5300 with questions.
